My Last Game with Bryan

This is Kody:
So our city league basketball season came to an end this year tonight. We only won 3 of our 10 regular season games so I came as sort of a surprise that we were playing in the championship game of the league tournament. When the tournament started last week, our team had finally "clicked". Bryan was driving more, I was cutting more, PJ was hitting more 3s, Andrew was scoring more in the post, and Jenning was laying up the ball like he always does when isolated (we've only had 5 players for a while now). It was a team chemistry that I hadn't played with yet and it won us three straight in the tournament before tonight (winning the last game by 23). I was nervous for tonight because, although I didn't want to admit it to anyone, I really wanted to win tonight. We started out the game really well and proceeded to take the lead without really knowing it (like we had in previous tourney games). At one point, Bryan tells me to follow him while walking the ball up the court. In a series of movements, Bryan drives in front of me as I cut around him, drawing the defense in. A quick dish to me for a lay-up and a smirk arises on my face. I'll miss these times.

I "caught fire" sometime in the first half making three straight 3s and we were up by 8-ish at the half. We felt good. I was still nervous though and I knew my 3s weren't going to last...but PJ's did, WOW! I don't know how many he made but I remember him making a lot and the other team asking us if we were ever going to miss. On the defensive side, I know I'm having a good game when I steal the ball. I stole it, and I stole it again. It got the point where the bench of the other team asked if anyone could throw it over #8's hands! I definitely did not expect that to happen. The clock wound down and our smiles grew bigger. At the end of the second half we had won the city league championship 78-69. The underdogs had won it. This was Bryan's and my last game together (at least for the forseeable future).

We played more ball at the church, then went to Wal-mart and got some snacks, and watched a movie at his house as a celebration. I'm still happy from the memory.
