Snowboarding Snowy Range with DJ

This is Kody:
This was DJ's second day and the last time he went, he traded in for skies halfway through. It went a little bit better today, and was actually a LOT of fun. This was my 7th time boarding this season and I decided since he was still learning that I would go switch (goofy) all day (except for the jumps). I finally felt like a snowboarder! It was good for me, too. Plus, I had my camera so you get to see what happened! Here it is:

One More Reason to Love My Husband

This is Tiffany:
Today we were finally able to go to church (we've been sick, stuck in Cheyenne, etc). While sitting in class, my friend Erin asked Kody if he wanted to hold her one month old baby girl. Kody, without hesitating, grabbed the little girl. It was such a sweet sight. Kody was just so loving and excited. It really got me excited to have our little one and see her dad melt with her in his arms. I loved when he said he was ready for ours to come. He truly is a loving daddy. No wonder he is Tiego's favorite.

About me, well...Like Kaysi I'm just getting everything ready for our baby. I've been cleaning non-stop (thank you Kody for been so patient). Our house is so small that I really need everything to be in place. If not I'll go insane. Today I've been making my hospital bag. I'm just feeling ready even though I think shes going to take her time.

This picture is me at 36 weeks.

Tiego's New Shoes

This is Kody:
Yesterday we went to Cheyenne to take back some things. I got new jeans, Tiffany got new clothes, and Tiego got some Lightning McQueen crocs that he's wanted for a long time...and they were almost completely free. You see, I was on Slickdeals.net and I found a Disney Cars holder that you could buy for $3 online (usually $10 in the store). I saw it before in the store and it came with Snot Rod so I thought that was a steal. When they sent it to me, they had accidentaly sent me 2 (even though the receipt said quantity: 1). We didn't need two of them so I took one of those back to Target yesterday for store credit. We went to the shoe section right away and sure enough they had Lightning McQueen crocs that were Tiego's size. He wanted to put them on right away and they ended up costing us $2 in difference. Christmas just keeps on giving this year! He wore those shoes to take a nap today.

Merry Christmas from Newton 5

This is Kody:
The day finally came. I was tossing and turning since 4:00 waiting for Tiego to wake up but he didn't wake up until 8:30! After a quick bathroom break, we headed right into the stockings where we got:

Tiego got: Lots of Cars, Sour Patch Kids, an orange, Mike & Ikes, Helicopter, Paint, and washable markers.
Tiffany got: Wrist guards, dried mangoes, starbursts, a 1G mp3 player, an orange, and tickets to see The Phantom of the Opera in March.
Kody got: Cream soda, sour patch kids, a belt, snowboard wax, sharpies, and an orange.

We ate some cinnamon rolls and then headed straight into the gifts with Tiego opening first. We tried to do it order but Tiego couldn't stop opening presents. Eventually we all got through our presents and this is what we got:

Tiego got:
Lots and lots of cars (including a barbed wire Lighting McQueen and both Maters), Cars storage box (that shoots the cars out if you want to play with them), Lightning McQueen slippers, Lightning McQueen plates and cup, a Cars figure 8 ra
cing track, and a Radiator Springs Mountain Challenge (that shoots the cars up and around the mountain). He loved it and is still playing with his race tracks.

Tiffany got:
Snowboard (with a sweet ninja on it), snowboard coat, pants, goggles, super hair straightener/curling iron, and knives. She said. "Best. Christmas. Ever."

Kody got:

A camera for taking with him snowboarding (Brig's camera), shorts, golf shirt, pants, The Dark Knight Blu-Ray (no, he doesn't have a Blu-Ray player yet but he will), snowboarding screwdriver, a first aid kit (thanks Mom, we really needed that), and long thermal socks. I just assumed that all of my snowboarding trips would be my present but Tiffany (ummm, Santa...) really outdid herself. We still have 3 kings day on January 6th to celebrate but this morning was fun! (we have a small 3x5 table with a Thomas train track on it for him...he'll love it!). Merry Christmas everyone, I hope your day was as special as ours.

Christmas Eve

This is Kody:
Today was a great day to prepare for a
big Christmas tomorrow. We headed to Fort Collins first thing in the morning to buy a day bed (for when Mami y Abuelita come) and took a nap when we got home. We headed over to Angelica's and Levi's to eat some dinner and play some Wii with the kids. That was a lot of fun.

As a family tradition that was started this year by Tiffany, we decorated socks to wear on Christmas morning (if they dry). We got some glitter glue, foam, and some new socks for the occasion and it was a fun family in-ing (as opposed to an outing). I can't wait to wear them tomorrow and open all of the presents (especially watch Tiego opening his). Even though we are just a small family, it has been a very enjoyable Christmas season and I am excited for the morning. Here are the different socks that everyone designed:
Tiego drew with a little bit of help from his parents. It's still a fashion masterpiece!

Tiffany had a classic touch to her socks, but they were already pretty sparkly :)

Kody did the obvious thing. Really, you had to have seen this coming...

"More Christmas Lights!"

This is Tiffany:
I love vacation! I'm debating whether I want time to go fast so I can have this baby or let time go slow so I can spend more time with Kody and Tiego. It's crazy how you start appreciating the little time you get to spend together. Just tonight it was really simple yet fun. We got in the car, we drove around and looked at Christmas lights. It was so fun to see how excited Tiego was getting and have small talk with Kody. While driving around we were very impressed by the symphony light show that the Courthouse put on. You tuned into a radio station and it played Christmas music to the moving lights. We were all pretty impressed. We don't get to see that type of show in Laramie that often.

Other news: baby sounds good, head is down, and I am dilated to a 2. I shouldn't be too excited, it'll probably take another month.

From the Mouths of Little Children

This is Kody:
Here a couple of quotes from Tiego today. I'll keep adding them as he keeps talking:

"I like Jesus."
"I like older men."
"I like Christmas presents."
"What's up, man?" (in response to my saying "Hey dude".)
"I wanna be cool."
"You're too big." (to Mommy after I told her that I didn't want to travel with her)

Fun kid, eh?

Snowy Range Opening Day

This is Kody:
Today was my 5th time snowboarding this year. Joining me at Snowy Range were Matty, DJ, Brian, and Tersa. The conditions were cold, icy, and there was only one lift open. It was still an enjoyable day with DJ trying to learn to snowboard on ice and trading in for skis half way through. We couldn't take any pictures because the snow was always blowing too hard.

Highlights of the day were DJ's first run in skis, my backside 180 on the last run, and the sheet of ice that I tried to stop on that made me slide on my back for 25 yards. All in all a very fun day and a great end to Matty's Laramie vacation. I don't hurt at all and my new gloves are awesome. I'm loving it all!

A Day with My Son

This is Kody:
Since I went snowboarding yesterday, Tiffany got the day off and I got to take Tiego all day. I decided to take him down to Fort Collins with Matty and it was a very fun day. Matty shopped and Tiego and I played. We played in the mall a little and then headed to Chuck E. Cheese's where I couldn't afford the pizza but spent $2 in tokens.
That was all we needed. We took some fun pictures, shot some hoops, and played a lot with a squirting water game that was broken. He had a lot of fun and so did I.

We came home and went bowling with Matty later on. Some may think of it as babysitting, but today I got to spend some great time with my my good friend Tiego.

Tiffany and Ganae almost were hit by a semi backing up coming home from Cheyenne. Apparently it took a lot of honking from them and the semi behind them to make him realize they were there. I'm happy she's home safe.

Kody: 0 Tree: 1

This is Kody:
Matty and I went down to Steamboat Springs today to go snowboarding
. On our first run down, Matty took us into the trees to get over to another run and we separated for a second. I saw a hole of some sort ahead of me but before I could realize what it was, I jumped it. It was about 4 feet down and large enough to fall in, but I noticed after I jumped it that it was a creek. Matty did the same thing. We jumped a river on our first run!

My new bindings and boots were a whole new world. I never caught an edge, landing jumps was easier than ever, and I was comfortable the whole time. Even though Matty would always take us down mogul runs, it was awesome.

It was about 2:00 when we went to the other side of the mountain and started down a run. I went to the right side and started hitting a series of jumps. After the first two, I landed a bit awkward and heading towards the tress. There were more jumps so I had a hard time stopping and next thing I know, WHAM!...I had literally wrapped my self around a tree. If fact, I had broken a small tree in front of that tree and it now had a sharp stump sticking out. It scratched up my back and my board and body was stuck in between the trees and my wind was gone. Luckily, damage was minimal and I finished out the day but my back had some scratches and holes in it. I feel pretty lucky that nothing happened and it was, in fact, a freaking awesome day! We're going again on Saturday...so the adventure continues.

Here's Matty's last run on the 3 boxes at the bottom of the mountain. I told him to do something better but I guess his sprained ankle wouldn't let him...

Tiego loves having Matty around and he calls him "Pirate"

Snowboarding Preparation

.

This is Kody:
This post is going out to all of you who understand what it is like to be able to accessorize! Since I bought my snowboard from Brig this summer, I have been going wild with my snowboarding gear. I am finally done buying stuff and I got my new boots today. When I went with Bryan last week, I found out my new boots were too small. I originally bought them for $40 and they are on ebay right now with 2 hours left at $61. My new Burton boots are beautiful, big, and fast. They only cost me $50. Matty and I are going to Steamboat tomorrow and Snowy Range on Saturday so they came just in time. Awesome!

Shopping Finds...

This is Kody:
We went shopping today and although we weren't really looking, I came home with some new bindings for my snowboard, and a new board to go with it. I guess I'll be selling that board but the bindings are perfect. I am finally done with my snowboard shopping (having bought a snowboard, bindings, boots, parka, pants, beanie, goggles, socks, and gloves already). A few days ago I also found some sweet Jordan shoes that are my new favorites. Tiego likes them, too! Happy Christmas shopping everyone and if you have any ideas for Tiffany, let me know.

Merry Christmas and Welcome to the Newton 5 Blog!

Hi everyone! This is Kody and the family and I are ready to start blogging now. Tiffany will write sometimes, I will write sometimes, but I think we're finally ready. Hopefully there will be a song of the day at the bottom of each post so you can also get some updated music as we go, but last night we put up the Christmas tree. We've never had so many presents underneath the tree so we were all excited. I think I'll let the pictures tell the story and go from there! Love you guys and welcome to our blog!
